On Friday 5th April 2019, a team of Years 7-8 secondary school students travelled to Tbilisi, Georgia to represent BISU in the first annual Black Sea Games. The competition was hosted by The British School of Tbilisi, co-founders with BISU of The Black Sea Schools Group. The event was full of multiple challenges and the students composed themselves well in every aspect of the competition. BISU managed to secure first place in the cross-country run at Lisi Lake which was a difficult 3.5 km course on uneven ground. Weather conditions were almost perfect for the event, with only one day of torrential rain which caused a small change in the programme.

My reflection on the week is one of great pride in the students who helped make this such a successful trip. It was wonderful to see expressions of joy each day as new skills and achievements were accomplished. It has given us an opportunity to reflect on the performance and how we can be a stronger force next year. We have some talented students here at BISU, who are kind and thoughtful individuals. We were very pleased to take many of these on fantastic learning experience to Georgia.

A huge thank you to parents who helped support this; the students who made it fun; and the staff who helped make this such a safe and successful trip.
