The Dnipro campus of the British International School has been complimented in its proactiveness in responding to the quarantine which has presented the entire world community with many challenges. Our Dnipro team did a great job, working in collaboration with students and parents, and offered a full online learning programme.
The urgent need to move to online learning encouraged school leadership and staff to investigate new opportunities to provide high quality and prompt information. Our goal was to ensure our students continued to receive a first-class British International education, throughout the lockdown period.
BISU Dnipro very quickly and successfully adapted to this new style of learning and teaching. During the lessons teachers gave new material, asked questions and checked home learning. The school provided up to 6 lessons a day, so the students had enough time to receive all the necessary materials according to the curriculum. Working in partnership with parents, lessons for the youngest students were conducted with the parents’ assistance and support.
Our team of teachers adapted both Ukrainian and International programmes to the online format, to provide a carefully planned learning programme of teacher initiated and student led learning. During the sessions, teachers delivered video workshops, individual consultations, and prepared students for exams and end-of-year assessments. School provided asynchronous learning opportunities which enabled older students to learn at their own time and pace.
A number of platforms were used to ensure maximum access and collaboration. Teachers conducted classes using Zoom, Google Meet, and the internal school platform, Firefly. In addition, our school used an international learning resource – the Learning Village – to support the online learning process. This an online system specifically designed for learners of English as an additional language. It supports students in developing their understanding of phonics and the use of English through reading, writing, speaking and listening.
BISU Dnipro, which is the only British International school in the southern region of Ukraine, is currently recruiting students for the next academic year. You can schedule an online appointment with the school management simply filling in the form on the web site or contacting the specified phone number. All the meetings can be held remotely or, should you prefer, at the school campus. If coming personally please be reassured that strict quarantine rules in place to ensure your safety and that of our staff team.
We look forward to seeing you at our school!
