On Wednesday 1 November Nivki Primary School held a parent workshop. The purpose of the session was to reflect upon and improve communication with parents and discuss the ways the school communicates student progress to the parents.
Parents shared their feedback and concerns about the rubric template which was mirrored by teachers and this will change over the course of this year. The reporting format will also change and this will hopefully give parents a clearer picture of student progress. The reports will now also comment on the attitudes and skills (social, communication, self-management, thinking and research) of the students.
This workshop is part of the school’s ongoing efforts to promote good communication and transparency with the school community. The British International School Ukraine has an open door policy and parents can come visit us anytime with positive feedback or constructive criticism.
Later in the year there will be an opportunity for more reflection and feedback. There is also going to be a parent information session for Year 6 parents on the Exhibition in January.
