Dear parents and students!
I would like to start by praising our school community for their response to this unprecedented event. Solidarity, cooperation, compromise and resilience are the essential ingredients of our unification against our common enemy. Good mental and physical health is absolutely essential. Mutual support is essential. While this can be difficult, I hope you can maintain a positive attitude as it will be required to see all of us during the quarantine period.
You probably know that the isolation period has been extended and that schools should remain closed. The new timeline means BISU schools are now scheduled to open on May 4, 2020. This will be the case if we do not indicate otherwise.
Despite the many challenges our community faces, we are committed to ensuring that parents and students continue to strive to offer the best possible curriculum and make every effort to support the learning of each of our students.
A blended, age-appropriate live lesson program, teacher support, video workshops and self-guided assignments will continue to be provided by all BISU schools until the close.
As I said earlier, no one had a plan for this event, and responses from national governments around the world show that circumstances have outstripped planning and preparation. This is a difficult period for all of us, and thanks to unity, mutual understanding and mutual support, we will survive these times.
Everyone shares the belief that if we are to successfully overcome the challenges we now face and win after the pandemic, collaboration will be the key to addressing the social, financial and emotional disruption that the virus will wreak. …
The virus is not our host and, working together, each of us can play a role in its defeat.
I sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are alive, well and well, and I hope that for us as a community and as a global society, normality will be better than what existed before COVID-19.
Best wishes,
David Cole
