Year 4 Learned About Verbs in Ukrainian and German

5 Mar 2018

On Thursday, 1 March, primary teacher Nataliya Kravchenko and  German language teacher Eugenia Poberezhniuk held an integrated lesson for Year 4 students on the subject “Verb in Ukrainian and German Languages”. The teachers worked based on the notion that students better learn a foreign language using models of bilingual learning.

At the start of the lesson students remembered all the seasons and signs of changing seasons, particularly what verbs indicate the coming of spring. Working in small groups students chose what activities to work on. After finishing their tasks each group presented their results to the rest of the class.

Teachers told the students about different tenses in German language and how verb endings in Ukrainian and German languages change depending on the number. After that, students individually worked on agreeing personal pronouns with the verb “to come” in Ukrainian and German. They took cards with verbs, coordinated them with pronouns and recorded in their notebooks.

In the course of the lesson students improved their knowledge of verbs, learned to find verbs in sentences and developed their artistic skills.
