On Wednesday, 28 March, Year 6 students had a meeting with a UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine representative Iryna Yakovleva. As part of the preparation to the PYP Exhibition students learned about the mission and work of the United Nations and talked about human rights.
PYP Exhibition is an eight week Unit of Inquiry that is designed, planned, organized and presented by the students who work with mentor teachers, whose role is to provide guidance and suggestions. Students are conducting their own inquiry into an important issue and meeting with a UN representative was of particular interest to the groups that are learning about discrimination, and the group learning about conflict. The students enjoyed finding out how their learning connects to the real world and in particular to issues in Ukraine.
