On Tuesday 5th November both Year 6 classes were invited to the Pechersk Secondary science lab to take part in ‘taster’ lessons that would give an experience of a secondary-style science learning.
Students discovered that science could be used for problem solving; in this case to find out who had stolen the cakes from the Science Department! The students used the scientific techniques of chromatography, chemical analysis and fingerprinting to uncover the culprit (who turned out to be Mr Hodgson!). The experience was undoubtedly useful for the Year 6s, who gained a better understanding of Secondary academic and behavioural expectations and began to develop some valuable scientific skills, whilst widening their scientific vocabulary.
Many thanks to Mr Mace, Mr Pennington, Ms Anderson and Mr Duckworth for their hard work in organising these lessons.
