Young archaeologists visited the National Museum of Ukrainian History
On January 31, Year 4 students visited the National Museum of History of Ukraine. The visit formed part of the curriculum and extended the learning taking place in the classroom.
The focus was the history of ancient Ukraine and the times of the Cossacks. During the visit, the students saw the real sets of armour. Some even tried parts of a knight’s costume made of imitation materials. The ‘little researchers’ learned what real Amazons used to wear, what they were writing on and the games they used to play in ancient times. Students were also encouraged to recall the names of well-known Hetmans and the symbols of the Cossacks.
A very whorthwhile visit which gave all involved a better understanding of the work of an archaeologist.
